"Uniting for Positive Change: Join the Sucot Foundation."
SUCOT is a foundation that was established in 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina, but whose origins date back to 1997 in Puerto Montt, Chile. The foundation was created after the founders witnessed young, drug-addicted children without homes sleeping in a drainage pipe near the beach. The foundation’s mission is to assist vulnerable children by providing food, clothing, and celebrating their birthdays. They have formed a partnership with an organization called Loaves and Fish and have a pantry at their location, but they are in need of more financial resources and space to expand their operations.

Because it was created
The founders of SUCOT were walking on the beach promenade with their spouse one night when they saw movement among the rocks. They discovered six children descending to a city drainage pipe that emptied into the sea. They noticed other children on the sidewalk inhaling shoe glue and approached them. These children were young and their eyes were disturbed from the effects of the glue. They asked the children where they were going and were told that they were going to sleep inside the pipe, using a wooden board as a bed. Seeing these young, drug-addicted children without homes was overwhelming and sad for the founders. They decided to reach out to the local government officials to see if they could help. They were told that there was a house for collecting street children and giving them shelter. The founders committed to visiting every week and bringing music, food, birthday cakes, balloons, gifts and celebrating birthdays with them. They began spending weekends with these street children, providing them with a sense of joy and happiness.
